In honor of summer and all that it entails, here's an excellent playlist of all of the summer hits from 1962 to present. Almost every one of these songs from about 1992 on conjures up a distinctly clear summer memory: singing along to TLC in the upstairs of my childhood friends' boathouse, sitting in the driver's ed vehicle, silently dying of embarrassment whenever "Lollipop" came on the radio(my teacher was a GUY! Ugh!), hearing Warren G on a retro summer playlist made by an old boyfriend. Watching soap operas in the laundry-mat, where "A Kiss From A Rose" was playing in the background and I was waiting for what seemed like an eternity for my mom to finish the laundry from the cottage. Getting ready for the bars, blasting "Promiscuous" (sorry, mom). Going to a church sleepover with some new friends and the boy I desperately liked and being slightly devastated when he made fun of Smash Mouth's "All Star". Strongly identifying with Bey and Jay in terms of being crazy in love...
