A Grown-Up Gap

Check out some of the images from Gap's 2012 Holiday Lookbook. Do I spot blackwatch tartan and contrasting stripes? Cropped tailored pants? Oversized cream sweaters?! While clearly taking a couple of pages out of J. Crew's style (maybe the whole book?), this is exciting. I haven't done much shopping at Gap since high school (namely due to their formless tops and baggy, unflattering dresses) but now...it's almost got me excited about cold weather.

Almost.

i must admit, i shop at the gap, A LOT. mostly, i am lured in by their copious online sales, and a general sense of familiarity with their sizes. that being said, everything needs to be gleaned with a discerning eye. their general aesthetics have fluctuated a lot over the past five to ten years, but the past few they seem to be swinging back to traditional, classic basics, sometimes with a twist. beware, though, they are huge fans of synthetic fabric and some items can be made rather shoddily, so it is hit or miss. as a general rule of thumb, i do not purchase anything full price.
